In advance of the new Google phone, T-Mobile has lifted the cap on its monthly data plan.
The amendment was made a day after T-Mobile announced the G1, the first smartphone to use Google's Android mobile software platform. The T-Mobile G1 combines touch-screen functionality and a QWERTY keyboard with popular Google products such as Google Maps Street View, Gmail and YouTube. T-Mobile stated it reserves the right to slow down traffic for a "a small fraction of our customers who have excessive or disproportionate usage that interferes with our network performance." The details of the plan were not final, since the G1 doesn't go on sale until Oct. 22.
